(MBMP PLC) is located 15kms to the north west of Mekelle the capital of the Tigray state. It was established with paid up capital of ETB 240 million. The first cement line of the factory was constructed by a Turkish based company ENKA with machines supplied by world renowned cement technology supplier FL Smidth of Denmark. The investment capital of the first line is around ETB 1.2 billion and the new line is about ETB 2 billion. The company started production of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) in April 2000.
Currently the factory is producing protean cement types which serve light and heavy construction up to C-45 concrete grades. The factory's production capacity is 3,000 tonne per day and 900,000 tonne of cement annually. The company employs 1195 permanent, 240 contract and 51 temporary workers.
Messebo PLC will start to produce Portland Limestone Cement which is needed for plastering work and helps users in terms of price and availability. All the products of the factory meet national and international standard requirements of cement which is crucial for the construction industry.
